Organising a walking dinner: how the evening unfolds
A walking dinner sounds relaxed, and it is — provided the organisation behind the scenes is right. In this article we show what such an evening looks like with us: from the first request to the moment the final round of bites is served. The fixed price stays €42 per person from 20 guests, including chef, service staff, tableware, set-up and clean-up.
It starts with the request. With your date, location and guest count we prepare a proposal with the menu composition, drinks package (Essential €18, Classic €28 or Premium €45 p.p.) and a schedule. We match the planning to the season: in summer we start later, in spring and autumn earlier. About a week before the event we confirm the details, including allergies and dietary wishes.
On the day itself we arrive one and a half to two hours before the first round. The kitchen set-up needs about two metres of free workspace, a power socket and access to water. Our mobile kitchen works on a terrace, in a garden or under a cover; indoors is possible too, provided there is ventilation. While guests arrive with a welcome bite and a glass, we prepare the warm rounds.
Two things set the pace during the evening: the rounds and the service. Six to eight bites are served in relaxed rounds, with twenty to thirty minutes in between, so guests have time to talk. Our team moves through the group instead of working from a fixed serving point — no queue ever forms and everyone stays in conversation. A full evening takes on average two and a half to three hours.
Afterwards we leave everything as we found it. Tableware, kitchen equipment and waste come with us; you are left with a clean venue. In practice the final round is often the sweet bite, followed by coffee — after that we are packed up within three quarters of an hour.

Frequently asked questions about a walking dinner
How much space do you need?
For the kitchen set-up, about two metres of free workspace is enough, with a power socket and access to water. Guests only need standing and walking space; no set tables are required.
How long does a walking dinner take?
A full walking dinner of six to eight bites takes on average two and a half to three hours, with a relaxed pace between rounds. A reception version of three to four bites takes about one and a half to two hours.
How far in advance should I book?
For spring and autumn, four to six weeks is usually enough. In July and August we advise booking at least two months ahead, as those months fill up first.
Do I need to arrange anything myself?
No, the catering is fully taken care of: chef, service staff, tableware, set-up and clean-up are included in the price. You only arrange the venue and the guest list; we help think through layout and timing.
