A walking dinner is the most relaxed way to dine: no assigned seats, no buffet, just small refined dishes brought around continuously. Your guests move freely, talk to whoever they like and eat as the food comes to them.
MAREA specialises in this concept. Our bites are Mediterranean, seasonal and made to be eaten standing: steak tartare, ceviche, grilled octopus, tortilla and more — finished live at your location in Marbella.
- 10 to 12 different bites, served continuously
- No tables or buffet needed — ideal for standing events

What exactly is a walking dinner?
At a walking dinner in Marbella guests eat standing up, across several small courses served by staff. There is no fixed table plan, so everyone mixes — ideal for receptions, birthdays and corporate events.
A typical walking dinner has six to eight bites, from cold to warm, finished with a small dessert. Allow around three hours of service.
Walking dinner or BBQ and paella?
A walking dinner suits events where guests keep mingling. If you want one central moment with volume, a live BBQ or paella works better. Combining is possible too: walking bites first, then a live station.
What does a walking dinner cost and what is included?
A walking dinner costs €42 per person from 25 guests. That includes six to eight bites per person, chefs on site, service staff, tableware, setup and clean-up. Drinks packages are chosen separately from €18 per person.
The menu runs from cold to warm: ceviche or gazpacho first, then warm bites with fish, meat or vegetables, and a small dessert to finish. Vegetarian and allergy-free versions are made to the same standard.
Walking dinner, walking buffet — what is the difference?
Walking dinner and walking diner mean the same thing: a dinner in small courses eaten standing up. The difference with a walking buffet is that guests do not serve themselves — staff bring each course around, so no queue forms and the pace of the evening stays under control.
For a two-hour reception three to four bites work; for a full evening meal six to eight. For events longer than four hours we add a late round, such as a mini burger or a warm soup.
How a walking dinner evening unfolds
An evening usually runs three to four hours. We start with the cold bites as soon as the first guests arrive, follow with the warm rounds at a steady pace and close with dessert. Because there is no fixed seating moment, the atmosphere keeps moving and you decide how long the evening lasts.
We allow for speeches, toasts or a cake moment: around such a moment we briefly pause the service and resume right after, so no bite goes cold and no course is lost.
Staff and setup on location
We plan roughly one server per twenty to twenty-five guests, plus one or two chefs depending on the menu. That keeps every round fast and evenly distributed across the space, even for groups of a hundred or more.
The setup consists of a compact work station with cooking and hot-holding equipment; an existing kitchen is a bonus, not a requirement. We arrive two hours before the start and clear everything away afterwards.

What does a walking dinner in Marbella cost?
Our walking bites menu starts at €42 p.p. with a minimum of 25 guests. Drinks packages start at €18 p.p. for a 4-hour event. Request a quote for an exact price.
Is a walking dinner suitable for any venue?
Yes — precisely because no tables and chairs are needed, it works anywhere: villa gardens, terraces, poolside areas and rooftops. We bring everything; your venue does not need a kitchen.
How many bites are in a walking dinner?
Six to eight per person, split across cold and warm courses. That is a full meal; for longer events you can add an extra round.
Do I need cocktail tables for a walking dinner?
They are recommended: a few cocktail tables give guests somewhere to put their glass. We can arrange them as an extra.
Is a walking dinner suitable for a large group in Marbella?
Very much so. From around 40 guests the concept works best, because guests keep moving and there is no buffet queue.
What does a walking dinner cost per person?
€42 per person from 25 guests, including six to eight bites, staff, tableware and clean-up.
What is the difference between a walking dinner and a buffet?
At a walking dinner staff bring each course around and guests eat standing; at a buffet guests serve themselves and a queue usually forms.
How many bites does each guest get at a walking dinner?
Six to eight per person for a full evening: a mix of cold and warm dishes plus dessert. For a two-hour reception we count on three to four.
Can a walking dinner be combined with paella or BBQ?
Yes. A popular combination is walking bites as a welcome, followed by a live paella as the main moment. We then adjust the number of bites to the main course.
Are there vegetarian or allergy-free options at a walking dinner?
Yes. Share dietary wishes and allergies with your request; we make vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free versions to the same standard as the rest of the menu.
From which date can I book?
Bookings run from 3 January 2027 onwards. Earlier dates are not available in the calendar; contact us directly for those.
Is a booking binding straight away?
No. Booking a date holds it for you free of charge. It only becomes final once you approve the written proposal.
How does booking a date work?
Pick a free date in the calendar, add your guests and location, and we call you within 24 hours with a proposal for menu, drinks and total price.
Can I book catering for 25 people?
Yes, 25 guests is exactly our minimum. All menus are available from that number, all-inclusive with chef, service, tableware and clean-up.
