Walking dinner by season: spring, summer and autumn on the Costa del Sol

A walking dinner on the Costa del Sol works outdoors all year, but spring, summer and autumn each call for a different set-up. The concept does not change — six to eight bites, no fixed seating, €42 per person from 20 guests — but the timing, serving pace and dish selection do.

In spring (March to June) it is pleasant outside from around seven, and it still cools noticeably after sunset. This is the easiest season: we start around 19:30 with light cold bites and build towards warm dishes as the temperature drops. Young vegetables, fish and herbs are at their best, and guests naturally stay outside.

Summer (July and August) calls for a later start. We usually begin around 20:30, once the worst of the heat has passed. The first rounds are cold and fresh — ceviche, oysters, marinated vegetables — and the warm bites follow after sunset. Provide shade or cover during set-up, plus plenty of water and ice. These are also the busiest months of the year, so book early.

In autumn (September to November) the weather is stable and mild, with warm days and cooler evenings. In our view this is the best season for a walking dinner: you can start earlier than in summer, terraces are quieter and the menu can be heartier. We always agree a plan B for rain — a covered terrace, indoor space or marquee — as our mobile kitchen works fine under cover.

Practically, little else changes. The price stays €42 per person from 20 guests, including chef, service staff, tableware, set-up and clean-up. Drinks are chosen separately: Essential €18 p.p., Classic €28 p.p. or Premium €45 p.p. Only the dishes and the schedule follow the month you celebrate in.

Frequently asked questions about a walking dinner

Does a walking dinner work in the summer heat?

Yes, provided you start later. In July and August we usually begin around 20:30, with mostly cold and light bites in the first rounds and warm dishes after sunset. Shade or cover during set-up is necessary.

Does the price change per season?

No. A walking dinner costs €42 per person year-round from 20 guests, including chef, service staff, tableware, set-up and clean-up. Only the menu composition follows the season.

What if it rains in autumn?

We agree a plan B in advance: a covered terrace, an indoor space or a marquee. Our mobile kitchen works under cover, so the menu does not need to change.

Which season is quietest for booking?

Spring and late autumn have more available dates. July and August are busiest; book well in advance for those months.
